A little prepgoes a long way.
The goal is not to make everything perfect. The goal is to remove the last-minute stress so the good moments have room to happen.

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.
Arriving a little early helps everyone settle in, use the restroom, finish any last-minute changes, and begin the session on time. A calm start makes a better session.
- ♡Use the restroom before arriving when possible.

Happy kids make beautiful, natural photos.
The best sessions happen when children feel relaxed and not pressured. You do not need to coach them into perfect smiles. Jennifer will help guide the moment.
- ♡Let them nap beforehand if possible.
- ♡Bring snacks and water.
- ♡Avoid saying, you better smile.
- ♡Make it sound fun and exciting.
- ♡Bring comfort items for younger children.
- ♡Let small personalities shine.
Simple, soft, and coordinated usually wins.
- ♡Choose warm neutrals, soft textures, creams, browns, muted greens, blush, dusty rose, denim, linen, and earthy tones.
- ♡Avoid loud neon colors, busy logos, and clashing patterns.
- ♡Coordinate without making everyone match exactly.
- ♡Bring layers, hats, jackets, or meaningful props when appropriate.
- ♡For couples and engagements, bring one casual option and one elevated option if your collection allows.
- ♡For seniors, bring outfits that show personality, hobbies, sports, or milestone style.
Show up as you. The rest is guided.
You do not have to know how to pose, where to look, or how to hold your hands. Jennifer will gently direct each moment so you can stay present with the people you love.
The magic is still allowed to be a little messy.
The questions everyoneasks first.
What types of photography does Shai'bug Photography offer?
Shai'bug Photography offers family, senior, couples, engagement, maternity, children, milestone, and lifestyle portrait sessions in Mulvane, KS and the surrounding Wichita area. Every session is built around four core collections: Keepsake, Heirloom, Spotlight, and Ever-After.
Where is Shai'bug Photography located?
Shai'bug Photography is based in Mulvane, Kansas and serves nearby South Central Kansas communities including Wichita, Derby, Haysville, Rose Hill, and surrounding towns. Outdoor and on-location sessions are scheduled at parks, fields, and locations that fit your story.
What should I wear to my photo session?
Soft, coordinated, and comfortable usually photographs best — warm neutrals, creams, denim, blush, dusty rose, and earthy tones. Avoid loud neon colors and big logos. After booking you receive a simple styling guide so getting dressed feels easy, not stressful.
How early should I arrive?
Please plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early. That little buffer lets everyone settle, use the restroom, finish any last-minute changes, and start the session calm. A relaxed beginning almost always means better photos.
What if my kids don't cooperate?
That's expected — and it's okay. The session is paced for actual kids, not perfect ones. Real laughs, shy smiles, and a little wiggle become the photo. Jennifer guides each moment gently so your child never feels pressured to perform.
What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?
Most people do. You don't need to know how to pose. Jennifer guides every movement so it looks natural instead of staged. The goal isn't to turn you into a model — it's to help you look and feel like yourself.
Which collection should I choose?
Keepsake is the simple, short session. Heirloom is for full family portraits with more time and images. Spotlight is built for seniors, athletes, and personalities. Ever-After is the cinematic couples and engagement experience. If you're unsure, just ask — Jennifer will point you to the right one.
Are props welcome?
Yes — props are welcome in every collection. Meaningful items like letterman jackets, instruments, sports gear, blankets, florals, and family keepsakes often make the strongest, most personal portraits. Bring what tells your story.
How do I book a session?
Send a quick note through the Contact page or email Jennifer directly at theshaibugphotography@yahoo.com. Share who's involved, the date or season you're considering, and what you'd like to remember. Jennifer replies personally and helps you finalize the right collection.
Do sessions include a photo release?
Yes. Every Shai'bug Photography session includes a personal photo release so you can print and share your edited images freely. Edited galleries are delivered online, and additional edited images are available as add-ons inside each collection.
